Orientation

Nosara and Playa Guinoes are located on the Pacific Ocean on the Nicoya Penensula in the northwestern Guanacaste region of Costa Rica.

Getting There

Nosara is most easily accessed through Liberia International Airport, which has direct flights arriving regularly from New York, Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, Houston and Toronto.  Most visitors to Nosara arrive by rental car or taxi.  Rental cars are available at the airport and taxis in the form of large passenger vans regularly transport visitors to Nosara.  The drive from the airport is approximately 2.5 hours over roads that are both paved and unpaved.

Language

While Spanish is of course the native language, Nosara is one of the oldest expatriate communities in Costa Rica and locals have adapted to the many English-speaking visitors and residents.

Cost and Currency

Nosara tends to be more expensive than many other areas of Costa Rica, due in part to it's beauty and the overall high quality of lodging, resources and food.  Visitors from the United States may expect to see prices similar to what they are used to at home for purchases of food, alcohol, clothing and other day-to-day items. US Dollars are accepted at most businesses, with change given in Costa Rican Colones.  Credit Cards are also widely accepted.

Seasons and Weather

The popular high-season for visitors to Nosara begins in December and continues through January, February, March and April.  June and July also show an increase in tourism.  High temperatures range in the mid-90s F in the high-season.
